If Only I Knew Then, What I Know Now!
Presenter: Rick Green of TotallyADD After a decade of advocating and educating adults, adolescents, and families about ADHD, Rick Green of TotallyADD.com talks about the difference the diagnosis made, specifically to his parenting, working life, and marriage. Like most people who are diagnosed later in life, Rick was amazed at how his ADHD had impacted his life, for better and for worse. Looking back, he cannot help but wonder, “What if I’d known sooner? How might my life have turned out?” It’s a question people of all ages must confront, and Rick talks about moving forward, letting go of what might have been, and offers a checklist of things he has done differently that have made a huge difference in his son’s life. “The good news is that I was able to spare him so much of the struggle and suffering that I endured. Seeing the difference that ‘knowing’ has made for him is what fueled my desire to create so many resources and videos for people who have, or love someone who has, ADHD.” In the process Rick outlines strategies and tools that have made the biggest difference for him, his son, and thousands of others, and offers ideas on how to use the ‘emotional tornado’ that can erupt after a diagnosis to power one forward to success. “Anger, regret, sadness, and even relief, are natural. But they can become a trap.”
